Senate protests over absence of Interior Minister
ISLAMABAD: Senate protested against the absence of Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan from the session of the upper house here in Islamabad on Friday, ARY News reports.
Chairman Senate Nayyar Hussain Bukhari warned that he would delay the session if the members continue to display inappropriate behaviour. Senator Aitezaz Ahsan and other members of the Senate wanted to discuss on the point of order.
Senator Raza Rabbani of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) said that the party does not accept the secret negotiations with Taliban militants. He added that no minister represents the country when saying that Taliban are a patriot group. He also denied that Justice Rafaqat Awan was shot dead by his own security guard during the rampage in the district court in Islamabad.
He further inquired how can someone be a patriot when it does not support the constitution.
The upper house also condemned the expulsion of Kashmiri students from an Indian university for supporting the Pakistan cricket team in the Asia Cup cricket match.
The next session of the upper house will be held on Monday at 03:00 pm.
