According to a press release by Pakistan’s Foreign Office, Foreign Minister of Senegal Mankeur Ndiaye, along with an eight-member delegation including Gen. Mamadou, Chief of Army General Staff, visited Pakistan on 1-2 November.
The visit was a follow-up of the meeting of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif with the President of Senegal H.E. Mr. Macky Sall on the sidelines of the 70th Session of UN General Assembly in September 2015, the release read.
This was the first visit of the Senegalese Foreign Minister to Pakistan.
The Foreign Minister of Senegal along with the delegation called on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. Matters of mutual interest were discussed during the call. The Prime Minister of Pakistan assured the visiting delegation of Pakistan’s cooperation in meeting the developmental needs of Senegal and offered the Credit Line facility to the visiting delegation for enhancing bilateral, economic and trade relations.
PM Nawaz urged early convening of Pak-Senegal Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC). The Foreign Minister of Senegal also held in-depth discussions with the Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz in addition to a meeting with the Minister for Defence Production Rana Tanveer Hussain.
FO added that the Senegalese Chief of Army General Staff held a separate meeting with Deputy Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee.
In the meetings, the two sides explored the possibilities of further strengthening and enhancing existing bilateral ties by promoting cooperation in economic, trade and defence sectors.
