Senior journalist Arshad Waheed Chaudhry dies of coronavirus

ISLAMABAD: Senior journalist and private news channel reporter Arshad Waheed Chaudhry passed away on Saturday due to complications caused by the coronavirus, ARY News reported.

Arshad Waheed Chaudhry had been undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Islamabad after contracting the deadly virus.

He was put on a ventilator after health deteriorated, according to family sources.

Earlier today, former MQM leader and MNA Farooq Sattar tested positive for the novel coronavirus and has quarantined himself at home.

On Nov 12, the Peshawar High Court (PHC) Chief Justice Waqar Ahmed Seth had died from COVID-19. A spokesperson from the Peshawar High Court had said Waqar Seth was hospitalized a week back with coronavirus-related complications.

He had been undergoing treatment at Kulsoom International Hospital in Islamabad.

Earlier this week several political leaders including former prime minister Raja Pervez Ashraf, senior PPP leader Qamar Zaman Kaira, Punjab minister Sumsam Bukhari had tested positive for the virus.

It is pertinent to mention here that 2,165 new cases of COVID-19 and 17 more deaths were recorded across the country during the last 24 hours.

The tally of deaths reached up to 7,109 in Pakistan, whereas, the number of active cases of COVID-19 reached up to 24,938.
