FM Qureshi leaves for China to attend Pakistan-China Foreign Ministers’ Strategic Dialogue

ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi will leave for China Sunday night to attend First Pakistan-China Foreign Ministers’ Strategic Dialogue.

Both sides will hold comprehensive discussions on the entire range of bilateral relations including the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), Radio Pakistan reported.

The two sides will also discuss the regional situation and cooperation at multilateral forum.

The foreign minister will also address Political Parties Forum on the CPEC and participate in ruling parties’ dialogue between the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and Communist Party of China during the visit. He will also call on the Chinese leadership.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi’s visit will add momentum to close and broad-based bilateral ties and will reinforce efforts to deepen economic engagement under the CPEC, the state media said.

Pakistan and China have been close allies in the region as well as at the global stage calling their ties all-weather relationship.

China has launched the CPEC project under its Belt and Road Initiative in Pakistan, which carries the largest foreign investment in the country in recent years.

Fifty-five thousand Chinese businessmen and workers were issued visas by Pakistan Embassy in Beijing and its four consulates, last year in 2018, Radio Pakistan had reported on March 15.

This was stated by Pakistan’s Ambassador to China Masood Khalid, while speaking at the inauguration of new visa system by Prime Minister Imran Khan for five countries, including China.

Calling the new visa regime “an important initiative”, Khalid had said that it would attract more tourists and businessmen from across the world.
