According to sources, Shaharyar Khan, who had decided not to step down after Pakistan cricket team’s pathetic performance in the recent ICC Asia World T20 and ICC World T20 tournaments, has handed over his resignation to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

Sources also confirmed that Najam Sethi is also likely to be removed as head of the Executive Committee of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). Earlier, Shaharyar Khan had also decided to retire as chairman of the cricket board but had met with Sethi and decided against tendering his resignation.

Controversy and criticism had added pressure on Shaharyar Khan after Head Coach Waqar Younis’ report pertaining to Pakistan’s recent dismal performance in the World T20 was leaked. Waqar had lashed out at the leaked report which was supposed to be confidential.

Waqar’s report placed blame on skipper Shahid Afridi and other board officials.
