Shahbaz leaves for London to meet Nawaz
LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Sunday departed for London to inquire after the health of his elder brother Nawaz Sharif’s wife Kulsoom Nawaz undergoing treatment there, ARY News reported.
He will also hold meeting with the former prime minister, who is currently in Saudi Arabia and expected to fly back to London soon.
On Oct 23, Nawaz Sharif arrived in Riyadh to perform Umrah along with his mother and meet his Saudi friends to win their support in the wake of challenges he had been facing at home since his disqualification.
As per earlier reports, he was to return back home from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to appear before an accountability court in Islamabad, but he stays put and is likely to go back to London.
On Thursday, the accountability court had issued bailable warrants for his arrest in two references after he failed to show up before it. It had dismissed his application seeking exemption from personal appearance before it.
Sharif and his sons – Hussain and Hassan – have been named in three corruption references, while his daughter Maryam and her husband retired Captain Safdar have been named in single graft reference related to the family’s London flats.
