Shahbaz visits Wagah blast victims, announces financial aid

LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif has announced compensation of Rs 0.5 million for each family of victim of the Wagah border suicide blast that occurred on Sunday night killing at least 59 people, ARY News reported.

He made this announcement during a visit to General Hospital Lahore, where he inquired after the health of Wagah blast victims.

Shahbaz reviewed arrangements at the hospital and ordered the staff to provide best medical facilities to the injured persons.

The CM Punjab also sought a report on the Wagha incident from police and the district administration.

He said the Wagah border blast was highly condemnable. The elements responsible will be brought to book at all costs. He said the nation needs unity and harmony at this crucial juncture.

The Punjab announced that Rs 75,000 will be provided to the family of each critically injured person, while 25,000 to the family of each person who received minor injuries in the blast.
