ISLAMABAD: A district and sessions court on Tuesday sent television anchor, Dr Shahid Masood, on a 14-day judicial remand in a case pertaining to snatching of journalist’s cellphone, ARY News reported.

The court had issued arrest warrants for the TV anchor in the same case on Nov 28. Police today produced Dr Masood in the court after transporting him from the Adiala Jail.

The petitioner in his plea had said that he was deployed for coverage at the Islamabad High Court when Mr. Masood, after hurling some harsh words, snatched his cellphone. The incident had occurred on October 29.

The journalist whose cellphone was snatched by Shahid Masood had also filed a case at Ramna Police Station in the capital city.

He contended in his FIR that Mr. Masood snatched his phone and deleted all data that he had recorded during the coverage. “Shahid Masood threatened me and warned me of dire consequences,” claimed the petitioner.

On September 14, a court in Islamabad had directed police to arrest Dr. Shahid Masood and produce him in court in the PTV corruption case.

The court had rejected a bail petition of television anchorperson in a case pertaining to the alleged financial irregularities in the state-owned PTV.
