PESHAWAR: The lawyer of Dr. Shakeel Afridi has decided to withdraw from his case citing threats from outlawed groups and the US pressure over Pakistan, ARY News reported on Saturday.
Shakeel Afridi, has been jailed for helping CIA in spotting Osama Bin Laden through a fake vaccination campaign.
Commissioner Frontier Crimes Regulations (FCR) had awarded 33 years of imprisonment to Dr. Afridi, which was later reduced to 23 years.
Samiullah Afridi, the lawyer of Dr. Shakeel Afridi, has said that he was quitting the case due to threats to him from various banned groups. He said some other reasons were also caused him to leave the case.
The counsel said the United States also applying immense pressure over Pakistan in the case, so as he was stepping down from the case.
