Sharjeel Memon seeks exemption from attending court hearing

KARACHI: Former provincial minister of information Sharjeel Memon appeared before the accountability court on Thursday for a corruption reference filed by the National Accountability Bureau, ARY News reported.

The lawyer of Sharjeel Inam Memon requested to the court for granting an immunity from appearing personally in the court hearing due to his illness.

During the proceeding, the former minister was seen being helped to walk in the court.

It is worth mentioning here that it was the first hearing of corruption reference against Memon.

After hearing the arguments of Memon’s lawyer, the court adjourned the hearing till May 6.

While talking to media, his lawyer said that his client is suffering from back ache for which he had went abroad.

Former information minister Memon talking to media said that that Dr. Asim is more courageous than him, being patiently facing all the court proceedings despite being ill.

Last month, the former minister had arrived Islamabad from Dubai on March 19 where he was briefly arrested by the law enforcement authorities. Following his release he vowed to face corruption references against him filed by National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
