Sharjeel orders cleaning of drainage system for rainy season

KARACHI: Sharjeel Memon, Information Minister of Sindh, has formed the Rain Emergency Plan and ordered the cleaning of drainage system before the monsoon season, ARY News reports.

According to a release, Information Minister of Sindh Sharjeel Memon chaired a key meeting in which issues such as drainage cleaning and the dengue control were discussed. Anti-dengue drive will kick off on a district level and the development work should be completed under the supervision of Deputy Commissioners.

The provincial information minister strongly instructed the concerned officers to ensure the cleaning of the drains and submit a report to the Secretary of Local Government through the Deputy Commissioner within 15 days.

Sharjeel Memon also instructed Administrator Karachi to distribute funds for the machinery and equipment required for the cleaning. He also instructed the Chairman of Karachi Sewerage and Water Board (KWSB) to finish the illegal water supply lines.

Regarding the anti-dengue campaign, Sharjeel Memon has stated that the officer will be held accountable if any report of a dengue patient is received. He urged that all development work should be finished in the given time whereas the work underneath the bridge at Sharah-e-Pakistan should also be completed within a month.
