TOP NEWS

KARACHI: Sindh High Court on Friday extended the stay order against suspension of ARY News license till June 30 (Monday), ARY News reported.

The case proceedings against suspension of ARY News license were held at the SHC today. ARY counsel Anwar Mansoor Khan appeared before the court and furnished arguments.

After hearing the arguments, the court extended stay order till June 30 and adjourned the hearing for an indefinite period.

The SHC had earlier issued stay order against suspension of ARY News license for a period of 15 days on June 24. The government lawyer went all out to get the stay order cancelled, but to no avail.

Pakistan Electronic Media and Regulatory Authority (Pemra) also filed a petition for early proceedings of the case, however the court rejected the plea.

The court will take up the applications of federal government and Pemra on June 30.

It may be noted here that Pemra had suspended ARY News license on June 20 without any prior notice or providing the channel any chance to clarify its position.
