SHC directs NAB officer to finish probe in DMC Malir corruption case soon
KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Wednesday sniped at the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) investigation officer (IO) for delay in inquiry against the suspect involved in embezzlement in petrol, ARY News reported.
The court said this while hearing the case against Shafqat Mumtaz pertaining to corruption in petrol allotted to the District Municipal Corporation Malir.
The SHC directed the IO to immediately complete the investigation against the suspect.
The IO said fake petrol bills were crafted for vehicles of the DMC Malir.
The court expressed anger over incompletion of the inquiry for the last two years. It said the suspects had nothing to do with the issues facing your department. “You should not punish others because of your personal issues.”
The high court said it was not easy for the people to come for the hearing for two years. “We have been hearing the NAB cases for seven months. We are witnessing how many cases are delayed.”
The court adjourned the hearing after giving him three weeks time for investigation.
