KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Friday ordered a departmental action against Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) officials involved in illegal confinement of citizens and filing bogus cases under terrorism charges.

A bench of SHC was hearing a petition when passed these orders, besides issuing summons to Inspector General of Police (IGP) AD Khawaja to appear before the court in next hearing with a comprehensive report of complaints received against officials of the anti-terrorism department.

The petitioner has contended that the CTD officials have illegally arrested three citizens named Khanzada, Syed Waqas Hussain and Aziz Gul, besides nominating them in a false case under terrorism charges.

The petition further stated that the citizens were physically remanded by the CTD officials without being presented before a court.

It further said that the Chief Justice of SHC has also taken notice of the incident after he was informed about it. The petition seeks action against the CTD officials involved in abduction and registration of bogus cases against the citizens.

The hearing was adjourned till January 24.
