KARACHI: Sindh High Court on Friday refused application for extension in bail of former Sindh information minister Sharjeel Inam Memon.
The counsel for Memon had requested for an extension in bail till February 26. He claimed that his client was under treatment in Dubai, and presented an airline ticket that he would arrive in Karachi on February 27 which was rejected.
The presiding judge claimed that Memon had sought an extension on multiple occasions and no further applications would be entertained. The judge issued the verdict that the accused has misused the judicial system the bail extension request was rejected.
Sharjeel Memon is accused in various corruption offences worth Rs5. billion including misuse of power and illegal land allotments. He is currently based in Dubai and London even though his name is placed on the Exit Control List.
