KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday has summoned a reply from the Interior Ministry till April 25 while hearing a petition filed by Dr. Asim Hussain for obtaining his passport and removal of his name from Exit Control List (ECL) here on Monday, ARY News reported.

The bench, in this regard, has issued notice to the interior ministry.

The petition stated that Dr. Asim has been granted permission by Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) to travel abroad as the patient suffering from ailing back and severe kidney pain and the medical board has advised him for treatment abroad, hence his name should be removed from the ECL and passport should be released to him.

During the proceeding, National Accountability Bureau (NAB) lawyer opposed the plea and alleged that Dr. Asim has committed corruption and argued that his name should not be removed from the ECL.

It is pertinent to mention here that an ATC on Saturday had permitted Dr. Asim on medical grounds to travel abroad for treatment against a surety bond of Rs two million. The court had directed him to approach the SHC.
