SHC suspends stay against Clifton construction projects

KARACHI: Sindh High Court (SHC) on Friday suspended the stay order against Clifton Flyover and Underpass projects, ARY News reported.

A division bench of the SHC comprises of Justice Aqeel Abbasi and Justice Zafar Rajput suspended the stay order on a plea of Bahria Town.

Bahria Town had filed petition against the stay order issued by a single bench of the court comprises of Justice Muneeb.

The counsel of the petitioner in his arguments before the bench called the plea of the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) as unlawful and based on malafide intention. He said the area comes into the jurisdiction of the KMC.

He further argued that the objections were not raised in the beginning of the construction and a plea was filed after the digging work of projects was completed.

He said suspension of the work on the projects causing difficulties for the citizens especially the pilgrims to the shrine of Hazrat Abdullah Shah Ghazi.

The bench suspended the stay order after the arguments and adjourned the hearing.
