RAWALPINDI: With barely a month remaining in the upcoming general elections, electioneering is gaining momentum as political leaders are visiting their respective constituencies and addressing public meetings to enlist the support of people.  

Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed on Sunday visited various parts of the constituencies he contesting the July 25 elections from on a motorcycle to woo voters.

He is in the run for two National Assembly seats in Rawalpindi NA-60 and NA-62 this time around.

Speaking to media, he expressed the hope that pen and bat will emerge victorious in the general elections.

A group of encroachers and drug dealers is contesting against him, he said.

Rasheed said no one can buy the people of Rawalpindi with money. “We were the first to come out against dictators,” he claimed and added it was the AML that sent former premier Nawaz Sharif packing.

He claimed that disgruntled PML-N leader Chaudhry Nisar will be the leader of all candidates contesting the elections independently.

He stressed the need for holding elections on time under any circumstances.

The AML chief said he would also campaign around on bicycle so that he could lose some weight.
