MANDI SADIQ GUNJ: A raid conducted by ARY News’ Sar-e-Aam team led to suspension of a Station House Officer (SHO) and another police officer for taking bribe for solving a case and sexually harassing a woman.
The raid was conducted after Team Sare-Aam came to know about a poor elderly woman whose 12-year-old daughter was missing and police was demanding bribe to even start investigation in the case.
So to collect proofs, Sar-e-Aam sent two of its representatives (one male and one female) as the elderly woman’s nephew and niece, who met SHO Mandi Sadiq Gunj Abdul Razzaq Shah and told him that the old woman sold her flat to bribe them after which the police officer accepted Rs9000 hush money to start the investigation.
This was just the beginning of an ordeal which would reveal how Punjab police treats complainants and even doesn’t spare women in demanding bribes.
As team Sar-e-Aam’s representatives next met the investigation officer in the case, one police officer named Nazir Ahmed, he too demanded bribe and received it by planting a kiss on the woman’s hand.
Nazir Ahmed then demanded a car and petrol and took Sar-e-Aam team representatives (who were posing as the elderly woman’s nephew and niece) to Hasilpur to “check brothels for the missing girl” but instead of looking for the missing girl, only drank wine and partied.
Nazir not only ate lunch at the expense of Sar-e-Aam team representative but also bought fans from their money.
The most horrific part of this ordeal was when, for further investigation, the woman representative contacted SHO Abdul Razzaq, he demanded her to join him on video call and then asked her to undress before the camera.
As the woman declined, he undressed himself before the camera and asked her to do the same upon which the woman hung up.
Next day, the duo went to meet SHO, who had asked them to meet him at his quarter.
As the two representatives reached there, the SHO asked the male rep to leave his place and then started lunch with the woman.
Before he could harm the woman or worst still, molest her, the Sar-e-Aam team reached there and showed them all the proofs of their crimes.

The matter was brought into DPO Bahawalnagar Ammara Athar’s notice, she asked DSP Bahawalnagar to meet Sar-e-Aam team and after getting a briefing about evidence, not only suspended SHO Abdul Razzaq and IO Nazir Ahmed but also ordered an inquiry against the two officers.
