KARACHI: Sunni Ittehad Council's (SIC) Ulema Board issued a fatwa (religious edict) against GEO's Morning Show declaring it Haram (Forbidden) to watch GEO TV Network, ARY News reported.
SIC has demanded to file case against GEO TV as per Blasphemy act. Religious Scholars said filming Manqabat (Qawwali ) on Veena Malik and Asad Khattak is like insulting Holy personalities.
Addressing a press conference, Chairman SIC Sahibzada Hamid Raza asked if Youtube coulb be banned for uploading blasphemous content why didn't GEO TV adding that it’s a clear discrimination.
Hamid Raza informed that issue will be raised in court and warned for protest in Karachi for infinite period of time for not getting justice.
Chairman SIC revealed about getting bribe offer of Rs 20 million for ending the protest against GEO.
“ I have turned down the bribe offer as there isn’t any agenda behind our protest and I will soon disclose the name of the person from whom we got the offer”, he added.
Speaking on the occasion, Faisal Raza Abidi announced to support SIC’s stance saying that GEO Network has crossed the limit and it should be boycotted.
