Doha: Romania's Simona Halep overwhelmed Angelique Kerber of Germany with two straight set victory in the final of Qatar Total Open in Doha, ARY News reported on Monday.
With the victory over Kerber by 6-2 6-3, Simona Halep captured her seventh WTA Tour title.
The seventh seed never looked back after breaking the sixth seed's serve to love in the opening game, and went on to post a 6-2 6-3 victory in 67 minutes. Simona performed exceptionally well in both the sets to dominate her opponent.
Simona broke the Kerber serve four times in all and saved all four break points she faced on her own serve.
The victory promotes the 22-year old Simona to one rank up at ninth position.
