Sindh Assembly vents anger on Lahore incident
KARACHI: The wrath of public representatives against notorious Gullu Butt, who attacked public property during police clash with PAT workers in Lahore, was heard in the Sindh Assembly when the house passed resolution condemning the Lahore incident, ARY News reported Thursday.
PPP lawmaker Sharmila Farooqui even proposed to make Gullu ‘Khadim-e-Aala’ (chief minister) Punjab. The resolution against the Lahore incident was moved by the PPP and the MQM, which was later unanimously adopted.
Ruckus was also witnessed during the proceedings when PML-N MPAs exchanged hot words with members of the treasury benches.
MQM legislator Khwaja Izharul Hasan said the transmission of ARY News was suspended in various cities of Punjab for covering and broadcasting the reality of Lahore incident. Such forced closures are against the freedom of press, he added.
Sharjeel Memon said judiciary was still silent despite oppression being meted out to people in Punjab. During the PPP tenure, there were frequent suo motu notices taken by the courts, he criticized.
