The government issued a notification on Monday evening imposing the ban, which will take effect from 12 midnight.
“Pillion-riding in the megapolis will be prohibited from March 1 to 4,” read the notification issued after recommendation by the Police Department.
However, the ban will not apply on women, children, elderly people, journalists and law enforcement personnel.
