The JIT will be headed by a SSP rank official, which will include representatives from the ISI, MI, Rangers, CTD and Special Branch.
Sources said the JIT will present its report to the Sindh Home Department within a period of seven days.
The team has also been empowered to review the allegation of terror financing faced by Dr Asim.
Asim is currently under 90 days’ custody of Rangers on charges of facilitating terrorists and to finance terrorism through corruption money.
It was further reported that the no official of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) – the institution with prime task to investigate corruption in country – has been inducted in the JIT.
