According to sources, a resolution is expected to be presented in the Sindh Assembly under which Rangers will only be allowed to take action against terrorists and they can only take the terrorists into their custody for 90 days.

Rangers will no longer have the power to carry out raids at any government institution nor will they be allowed to arrest any political leader, sources said.

It should be noted that Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan had said that Sindh Government was making the targeted operations in Karachi a controversial issue.

He had also said that the issue of extension in Rangers’ powers was being taken to a troublesome level.

CM Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah had ensured Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif that Rangers powers in Sindh will be extended but the summary has not been signed as yet.
