The Sindh government took notice of media reports about Majid Jahangir’s ailing condition and financial constraints he was facing for years.
The well-liked TV artist of 80s and fame of popular sitcom of all time ‘Fifty Fifty’ Mr. Jahangir is living in a two-bed apartment in Karachi’s Gulshan-e-Iqbal area, with no financial sources to meet expenses for his medical treatment.
He had also appealed the provincial government of Sindh and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to pay heed to his condition and release grant from Sindh Endowment Fund for artistes.
Majid had also expressed dismay for not receiving any grant from recently-announced fund for artistes despite his name being in the list of beneficiaries.
Ms Sharmila Farooqui visited the ailing artist at his residence and presented him a cheque. She was accompanied by the culture department officials.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Television has also released grant of Rs 5 lac grant to the artist.
