SHC issues orders for removal of 477 corrupt public servants

KARACHI: Sindh High Court (SHC) has issued orders for termination of services of as many as 477 corrupt officers from 13 different departments of Sindh government, ARY News reported on Wednesday.

According to details, these officials had voluntarily returned illegally earned money to National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and resumed their positions after entering into plea bargain with the anti-corruption watchdog.

The major chunk of these executives comprised public servants from the provincial educational department under senior minister Nisar Ahmed Khuhro. The court orders termination of services of 297 officers from Sindh Education Department alone.

The Local Government Department of Sindh having the second largest number of officials involved in corrupt practices, as 48 officers of the department are to be removed from their jobs under the orders of the court.

Meanwhile, 30 officers from Sindh Works & Services Department will be removed from their positions, besides 27 officials of the provincial department of irrigation.

The list entails eight executives of Sindh Forest Department, six of provincial Health and Public Health Engineering departments respectively, besides a Sindh Agriculture Department officer to be removed under the high court orders.

Moreover, eight officers of Sindh Police Department and an officer of the provincial Social Welfare Department have also been in the list of the officials involved in corruption.
