Sindh Rangers uncover car-stealing syndicate, recover 51 vehicles

KARACHI: Sindh Rangers on Saturday have exposed a car stealing syndicate involved in theft and sale of cars across the country. 

Addressing a press conference in SITE area, Brigadier Naseem said that two members of the gang have been arrested in Nazimabad area of the metropolis during a joint operation by police and the paramilitary force.

“A stolen car and a weapon were recovered from their possession during the raid,” said the brigadier. The arrested men have been identified as Qazi Muneeb Ahmed Siddiqui and Muhammad Sheerazi.

In the light of the initial investigation, the paramilitary force conducted subsequent raids at different parts of the province and recovered as many as 51 vehicles, the Rangers official said.

“All the recovered cars have been returned to the owners,” he said.

Revealing the modus operandi of the network, the brigadier said that the network was divided into two groups; one was involved in stealing and another was involved in selling the cars across the country.

Calling it the biggest car recovery operation, Brigadier Naseem said as many as 16 suspects were arrested in the subsequent raids; however, 10 were released later.

Moreover, he said the investigation was still underway and as many as 84 FIRs were lodged against the members of the network.
