Sindh seeks military deployment in Karachi during local bodies election

The election commission has in response wrote letters to the ministries of interior and defence seeking deployment of military during the upcoming phase of local bodies elections in Sindh, Punjab and capital territory of Islamabad.

According to election commission sources, a batallion of the army troops will be deployed in Islamabad during the polling for local bodies election on November 30th.

The military troops will be deployed at 62 buildings of the capital city for security of 120 polling stations in these buildings.

The election commission officials said that 600 rangers personnel will also be deployed in Islamabad during the election.

In the third phase of local government elections, the voters of six Karachi districts in Sindh and 12 districts of Punjab will exercise their right to vote to elect their local representatives on December 05.
