TOP NEWS

LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami chief Sirajul Haq has demanded the provinces to lift bar on displaced persons of North Waziristan, ARY News reported Tuesday.

In a news conference in Islamabad, the JI chief lamented that launching operation without any time-frame was an inappropriate decision.

The army operation, if continued for indefinite period, will, have various downsides, said Siraj. He demanded formation of task force comprising members of parliamentary parties.

All political parties, he said, must set aside differences and focus on plights of IDPs. He appealed the IDPs who had left for Afghanistan to return their homeland. More than 0.7 million people are displaced in the wake of military offensive in North Waziristan, said Siraj.

The JI chief said prime minister must tell the reasons for breakdown of talks with the Taliban. To a question, he said Imran Khan’s protest call for August 14 was his own decision.

He claimed that he was not in favour of dissolving assembling, while do so in the current circumstances was also not preferable, he added.
