ISLAMABAD: Taking a potshot at Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PIT) chief Imran Khan over the recent disclosures of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Sirajul Haq about Senate elections, former premier Nawaz Sharif asked his arch-rival to explain how party leader Chaudhry Sarwar won a Senate seat from Punjab.

While interacting with media persons on the premises of the accountability court here today, the former premier and PML-N Quaid said the disclosures made by the JI chief are meaningful.

He said the PTI chief has been taking to task the party lawmakers who allegedly sold their votes in Senate polls, but he should first ask himself on whose orders he voted for PPP candidates.

Sharif challenged Imran to tell the nation that if his party didn’t vote for the PPP.

He said that the PTI chief should also explain how Chaudhry Sarwar won a Senate seat from Punjab, when the party lacked required number of legislators in the Punjab Assembly.

The former premier also questioned the PTI slogan of change, asking if these people whose politics was not based on principles will bring about change.

Speaking to media in London, Sharif had challenged Khan to spill the beans on those who ordered him to vote for Senate chairman Sadiq Sanjrani and deputy chairman Saleem Mandviwalla.

He said the recent disclosures made by the JI chief  has proved that PTI chief and other political parties had always looked towards the “umpire’s finger” and “orders from the top.”

He said the senate chairman and deputy chairman have lost credibility after Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) leader Sirajul Haq’s claims.
