Six killed in alleged police encounters in Karachi

KARACHI: Six criminals were killed by police in Karachi on Monday as law enforcement agencies intensified their operation against terrorist and other criminals in Pakistan’s economic hub, ARY News reported.

Police personnel in a surprise raid killed three gangsters near Kashti Chowk of Lyari area. Two of the dead criminals were later identified as Sumair Kuchal and Rashid alias Mulla.

Police sources claim that the slain criminals were involved in killing more than a hundred citizens including defunct People’s Amn Committee leader Zafar Baloch. Sumair Kuchal is said to be a close aide of Baba Ladla.

On the other hand, Counter Terrorism Department of Police raided a house in Toori Bangash locality of Orangi Town area where the criminals opened fire on police personnel.

Two of the criminals were arrested in injured condition after an encounter and shifted to hospital where they succumbed to their injuries.

Police sources claim that a huge cache of arms, detonators, explosive material and an explosives laden motorcycle was recovered from their possession.

Another criminal was killed in an alleged police encounter in Quaidabad area of Karachi.
