Sohaib Maqsood, Umar Amin among injured in Karachi hotel blaze

KARACHI: Pakistani cricketers Sohaib Maqsood and Umar Amin were also among the people affected in Karachi hotel fire incident, ARY News reported on Monday.

The fire which erupted in Karachi’s local hotel at Shahrah-e-Faisal area claimed at least 11 lives and injured over 50 people, which included cricketers, doctors, foreign nationals and Rangers personnel.

The two players are part of the UBL team which is currently taking part in the Quaid-e-Azam trophy. The team was staying at the hotel.

Sohaib Maqsood and many of his team mates were affected after smoke filled their lungs.

Yaseen Murtaza, who played for Pakistan’s Under-19 squad, fractured his leg after jumping from the fourth floor of the building in panic to save life.

The team will not play their tournament fixture today.

Maqsood said that the team escaped a major catastrophe. “God has been merciful,” he added.
