Special Court hears defence arguments in Treason trial
ISLAMABAD: Anwar Mansoor, lawyer of former President General (Retd.) Pervez Musharraf, has presented his arguments in the Special Court, hearing the Treason Case, here on Monday, ARY News reports.
Every citizen has a right to seek justice under the Article 9 of the constitution, Musharraf's counsel Anwar Mansoor said in his arguments. He added that justice cannot be provided till the bench is impartial. He argued that under the law constitution of the special court is the responsibility of the Federal Government.
Justice Faisal Arab inquired that how can the Government of Pakistan appoint judges if it does not consult with Chief Justice of Pakistan. Lawyer of the former President replied that the Government has the list of all the judges and can appoint them from the list.
He further said that the Federal Cabinet has the right to name the bench not the Chief Justice.
