Special Olympics 2015 kicks off in Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES: The opening ceremony for Special Olympics 2015 took place at Los Angeles’ Memorial Coliseum to cheer and roars, ARY News reports.

First Lady of the United States Michelle Obama was the chief guest of the ceremony which was filled with songs and words of encouragement for the athletes with intellectual disabilities.

She said that she and her husband (Barack) were proud of all the athletes and they love them with all their hearts.

Around 60,000 spectators along with 10,000 athletes from 165 countries including Pakistan will be taking part in the special olympics.

A colourful display of fireworks was witnessed following the torch-lighting ceremony.
