Sri Lanka announces World Cup squad

However, the pacer must be fit before the team leaves for tournament as selectors have put him in the squad subject to his fitness.

The selectors have almost retained the squad, which will play ODI series in New Zealand later this month.  The only exception is fast bowler Shaminda Eranga, who has been left out of the squad.

Malinga missed Sri Lanka’s one-dayers against India and England after he underwent surgery on a troubled left ankle in September. He has returned to the squad for the upcoming ODIs against New Zealand.

All-rounder Angelo Matthews will be leading experienced Tillakaratne Dilshan, Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene during the tournament.
