Sri Lanka in a better position despite Shehzad's ton
SHARJAH: The third day of Sharjah test ended with the wicket of Sarfaraz Ahmed, who lunges forward and gets a thick outside edge and Prasanna Jayawardene picked the catch behind the stumps off Rangana Herath, ARY News reported.
Pakistani openers Khurram Manzoor and Ahmed Shehzad started off well providing Pakistan a stand of 114 runs but middle order collapse left Pakistan at 291-6.
Manzoor went out after scoring 52 runs while Shehzad scored his maiden Test hundred and got bowled out at 147 by Herath.
Before Tea break, Pakistan were in a good position with 169-2, but Shehzad led the acceleration after tea, forcing Mathews on the defensive, but he was one of four wickets to fall in the session, however Pakistan scored 122 runs in the final session of 21.3 overs but Sri Lanka ended the day on positive note.
Skipper of Pakistan, Misbah-ul-Haq remained not out on 36 having trial of 137 runs with 4 wickets remaining. At their current pace the best Pakistan can hope for is to draw a Test which they need to win, but the batting collapse at the end of the day left Pakistan in a difficult situation.
