During the meeting Sri Lankan President appreciated Pakistan army’s momentous achievements in ongoing Operation Zarb-e-Azb and sacrifices for regional peace and stability.

He said Pakistan had played a substantial role in helping consolidate the integrity of Sri Lanka.

Speaking on the occasion, Gen. Raheel Sharif expressed his appreciation for Sri Lankan Government, people and security forces in fighting menace of terrorism and progress made thereafter.

Later, COAS also held separate meetings with Prime Minister of Sri Lanka Ranil Wickremesinghe, State Minister for Defence Dinendra Ruwan Wijewardene, and Secretary Defence B M U D Basnayake, as well as Chief of Defence services of Sri Lanka General J. Jayasuriya and Commander Sri Lankan Air Force Air Marshall K A Gunatilleke, Commander Sri Lanka Air force.

During these meetings Sri Lankan civil and military leadership vowed to enhance cooperation in multiple areas related to defense and security.
