RAWALPINDI: Director General Inter Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Asif Ghafoor on Friday said government of Pakistan will respond to the United States threat hours after US Vice President Mike Pence’s remarks criticising Pakistan, ARY News reported.

“No one plays blame game with allies and partners. No country has sacrificed as much as Pakistan has in the name of war on terror that was launched by the US,” he said in response to US Vice President Mike Pence’s recent statement against Pakistan.

Mike Pence during his visit to Afghanistan threatened that Pakistan had much to lose by harbouring “criminals and terrorists.”

Such a threat could negatively affect relations, said Asif Ghafoor adding that through diplomacy and foreign policy ties will be mended with the US.

“Pakistan has already given enormous sacrifices. Now it’s America and its NATO allies forces’ turn to do more and fight war on terror as it has entered the decisive phase. America has to fight inside Afghanistan. We can make whatever possible cooperation we could,” he said.

He also said peace in the region was only possible through repatriation of Afghan refugees present in Pakistan.

The DG ISPR said the Afghanistan government should eradicate Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) leadership from its country.

He also said, “You cannot blame that the Afghan forces are not doing anything at all or not willing to take action in this regard, however matter of the fact is that they do not have presence in many of the ungoverned areas.”

They should follow Pakistan and fence the other side of the border as Pakistan was doing on its side, he said.

He said the Pak Army had completely uprooted terrorist hideouts from Pakistan and building fence will help stop infiltration from other side of the border.

“Intelligence sharing from both sides should be made and the Afghan forces should carry out targeted actions as it was necessary to decimate TTP leadership across the border as well,” he stressed.

To a query, he said government makes policy as it’s their job while being a state organ the Army only contributed with the input for implementation.

To another query, he said: “Our nuclear assets are in safe hands and there is no threat to our nuclear assets.”

He also said India targeted innocent Kashmiri citizens on the Working Boundary and Line of Control, while Pak Army only retaliated with firing on the posts carrying out aggression because Pak Army could not target their Kashmiri brothers across the border.
