Stepmother behind killing of PSP activist Abdul Habib: police
KARACHI: Police on Thursday claimed to have found murderer of Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) leader Abdul Habib and it turned out to be his step-mother, ARY News reported.
Deputy inspector general (DIG) West Amin Yousufzai said the lady, identified as Hajra, got Habib murdered through her brother so she could take over possession of the house they were residing in. It was an issue of property dispute, added the officer.
Hajra also paid her brother Syed Wali Rs 1.2 million after he murdered Habib. Wali had also sent a voice message after murdering the PSP activist. The police found the audio, conducted its forensic test and traced the actual killer. The motorbike used in the crime was also recovered by the law enforcers.
The DIG West said murderer had fled the country, however, the woman behind the murder plot had been taken into custody.
Police said they had also found criminal record of Syed Wali.
PSP leader was killed in an armed attack near Sakhi Hassan Chowrangi on Feb 18. Police had said unidentified assailants riding a motorcycle opened fire at the car of PSP leader Abdul Habib, critically wounding him.
He was moved to a nearby medical facility where doctors pronounced him dead.
Condemning the incident, PSP chief Syed Mustafa Kamal demanded the provincial government to ensure the swift arrest of the culprits and their facilitators involved in the murder of his party leader.
