ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister of Defence, Khawaja Asif has said that a strong and prestigious army is an asset for the nation and we are proud of the sacrifices rendered by the Pakistan Army for the defence of the state – ARY News reports.
In a statement issued on Friday, Khawaja Asif said that he was being defamed for his speeches of past years being aired in the media after twisting and apart from the context, for the last two weeks. He labeled this act by a specific faction of media, to be in contrast with reality.
Asif stated that he can never think of putting on stake the honor of a prestigious institution of the country, especially not in an hour of time when the Pakistan Army is fighting at various fronts for the past several years.
The Defence Minister said that Pakistan Army has rendered great sacrifices for the defence of the country and we are proud of it.
Moreover, he referred to it as a negative step by a specific group, to relate fabricated statements to him about the military.
