Tabu to play tough female police officer in upcoming film Drishyam
After giving one heck of a performance as a mother in Haider, Tabu is all set to grace the silver screen in an important role. The Bollywood actress will now be seen playing a tough, resilient female cop who leaves no stone unturned in teaching nfarious criminals a lesson. The first look of Tabu as IG Meera Deshmukh was revealed and it shows the Bollywood actress clad in the khaki uniform, sporting sunglasses and a mean expression at the same time!
The role is touted as ‘the toughest role she has ever portrayed’, read a statement. Drishyam, a thriller directed by Nishikant Kamat, also features Ajay Devgn. He plays a middle class family man named Vijay Salgaonkar. Tabu has been noted for starring in those films which capture her essence as an actress and allows her to display her character as a strong female. She has previously starred in films Hawa, Cheeni Kum and Chandini Bar, all of which have featured the actress enacting the role of a strong female.
Most recently, Tabu was also cast alongside Aditya Roy Kapoor and Katrina Kaif in the upcoming Bollywood movie Fitoor. Fitoor is set to be an adaptation of the classical Charles Dickens novel Great Expectations. The film will largely revolve around the characters played by Aditya Roy Kapoor and Katrina Kaif.
Keeping Fitoor aside for the moment, Drishyam is being anticipated by movie buffs as it would feature Tabu as well as Ajay Devgan, two notable actors who are famous for putting in stellar performances. Ajay Devgan plays the role of a middle class family man in Drishyam and it will be interesting to see how the chemistry works between both veteran Bollywood stars.
