MEXICO CITY: A 99-year-old runner became an inspiration for many after he mowed down a 92-year-old competitor in the final metres of a sprint race. Orville Rogers, 99, narrowly sped ahead of Dixon Hemphill, 92, in the 60-metre event at the USATF Masters Indoor Track & Field Championships in New Mexico. It was a photo finish - Orville won by five-hundredths of a second. Rogers, a World War II veteran and pilot, clocked 18.00 seconds to Hemphill’s 18.05 seconds.
