SC rejects Aamir Liaquat’s apology in contempt case

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Tuesday rejected the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf MNA Aamir Liaquat Hussain's apology in a case pertaining to contemptuous remarks against the court. Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar said the lawmaker will be indicted today and summoned a federal law officer. The court, however, adjourned the case for indefinite period owing to paucity of time. Top court rejects apology of Talal Chaudhry in contempt of court case

ISLAMABAD: A five member larger bench of the Supreme Court has dismissed intra court appeal of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Talal Chaudhry against his conviction in contempt of court case. The bench headed by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar heard the case. MUMBAI: The News Broadcasting Standards Authority, India’s self-regulatory body for TV news channels, has ordered country’s Zee News to pay a fine of 1,00,000 (one lakh) and air an apology for a report the channel aired some months ago regarding Indo-Pak mushaira. Canada apologises to men tortured in Syria. agrees settlement

OTTAWA: Canada on Friday formally apologised to three Canadian men of Arab descent who said they had been tortured in Syria and blamed Canadian secret services for their ordeal. The Liberal government also said it had agreed a cash settlement with Ahmad El Maati, Abdullah Almalki and Muayyed Nureddin, who had pressed their case for a decade.
