Cataract surgery tied to lower risk of early death for older women: study

NEW YORK: Older women with cataracts who get surgery to treat the eye problem may be less likely to die prematurely than those who don’t get the operations, a recent U.S. study suggests. Researchers examined data on 74,044 women with cataracts, including 41,735 who underwent cataract surgery.
