LAHORE: Senior Pakistan batsman Younis Khan has withdrawn from the first Test against the West Indies following advice from doctors to rest after he contracted dengue fever, the Pakistan Cricket Board said Thursday. The 38-year-old was infected by the mosquito-borne virus last month and was admitted to a local hospital. KARACHI: The deadly Naegleria virus and Dengue on Tuesday claimed lives of two including a minor in Karachi, ARY News reported.
Dengue is an endemic in Pakistan which starts in post monsoon period. According to a research journal of Dow University of Health Sciences Karachi more than 30,000 cases of dengue have been reported in Pakistan since it first reported in 1985.
