The dam has a capacity to produce 4500 megawatts of electricity and could help in saving US$2.48 billion annually in terms of fuel charges. The project is likely to be completed in 2027.

It is pertinent to mention here that Prime Minister Imran Khan on May 11 directed to immediately start the construction work of Diamer Bhasha Dam.

ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice Saqib Nisar has sought the timeframe from Wapda for construction of Diamer-Bhasha Dam. He said that the court's decision on Diamer-Bhasha and Mohmand dams has become final as no review petition was filed against it.
