It is to be mentioned here that the government on Friday notified Sikandar Sultan Raja as the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) for a five-year term.
The hearing of the case was presided over by IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah.
Asad Qaiser said that consultations were also made with the prime minister over the legislation regarding extension in the service term of the Army Chief.
"It is constitutional duty of the government and the opposition to take a good decision with mutual cooperation," Tareen here said.
He said the prime minister is committed to bring back the looted money in the country.
The ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had floated three names for the ECP’s top position.
Azam Khan Swati, in his video message, said that the ECP appointments were finalised after holding consultations with the concerned institutions.
The opposition parties have decided to take legal action against the appointment of Khalid Mahmood Siddiqui and Munir Kakar on the vacant seats of ECP.
