Muhammad Khalid Khursheed got 22 votes while the opposition nominated candidate Amjad Hussain secured 9 votes
The major opposition party suffered a big blow during the presence of PML-N vice president Maryam Nawaz in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) region who is leading campaign ahead of November 15 elections.
The general elections for the GB assembly will be held on November 15.
The concerned authorities have been directed to ensure the implementation of the court orders.
The virus has so far claimed 23 lives in GB while the recovery rate is 11.45 per cent.
The NDMA spokesperson said that overall 15 ventilators including 10 for intensive care unit and 5 portable breathing machines were dispatched to GB.
The provincial government will review its decision for the imposition of lockdown after the Eid festival.
