Karachi airport also known as Jinnah International Airport is one the Asia’s largest airport which can entertain more than 12 million passengers annually. The airport was previously used by the American’s during world war II. Jinnah terminal was completed in 1992 at a cost of US $100 Million it was one of the most expensive civil project of the country at that time.
Karachi airport has 2 runways having length of 3200 meters and 3400 meters having width of 45 meters and 46 meters and capable enough to handle all the modern aircraft including Boeing 747. It has accommodated 42 aircraft 12 at the air bridges linked directly to the building and 30 in the remote parking bays.
Karachi airport was one of the busier airport between 1960’s and 1980’s acting as an online station for various airlines including Air India, BOAC and British Airways. Karachi airport also consist of “Ispahani Hangar” it’s the wide body aircraft hangar for PIA it is named after the first chairman of the airport.
